Ilhan Omar First Somali American Congress Woman

Ilhan Omar has recently become the first Woman of color to represent Minnesota in Congress. In a landslide victory Omar is not just the first Somali American, but first Muslim refugee and first hijab-wearing Muslim woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Omar's story starts with humble beginnings. She was born in Somali. Fled the war to a refugee camp in Kenya and was resettled in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her accomplishments give hope to the underrepresented and marginalized woman of the world. Women there is power in your voice. Harness it!
